Through this week’s study, I learned the importance of the Five Principles in multimedia. Among them, I especially agree with the Redundancy Principle. Screencasting is part of the topic, which I will take about in this post. As we are all studying online now, screencasting has played a crucial role in teaching. Screencasting is a record or transmitted video of data displayed on the screen of a computer or mobile device. Through screencasting, users can visually and audibly show their topics to the audience by projecting the whole screen of their devices or a specific application.
It is also very meaningful for those who didn’t have access to a school or an educational institution in the past. The Khan Academy, for example, now provides over 6,000 screencasts on various subjects. Every month over 10 million students use those screencasts. I am personally a huge fan of Khan Academy, it was pretty much my online high-school teacher.

I agree with you. The combination of pictures and texts makes it easier for people to remember information. I’m also a beneficiary of screenshots. In my spare time, I learned some new skills by watching videos from educational institutions online. I am also a game player. Your teaching videos of Apex were fascinating. I learned new ways to warm up. I hope we can have a chance to play together in the future. lol

Great walk through for Apex Legends. So many ways screencasting can aid learning. Many people don’t obviously think of Twitch or walkthroughs as teaching but they are likely some of the most popular.

Hi Patrick, I couldn’t agree with you more after reading your post. Screencasting is a very useful tool for both students and educators. It was also through this course that I downloaded screencasting, and I found it very useful. Previously I had to record the screen and do the dubbing myself, which was a lot of work. Now that I’ve learned how to use screencasting I can record video as I go, saving me a lot of time. I found that I could also upload it directly to YouTube, which was very convenient. Although the picture quality was a little unclear, I did not understand what caused it. I will continue to work hard on it.
